The wildebeest and zebra are now in the central Serengeti and moving west and north west. The main herds are around Seronera and Naabi Hill. They are moving towards the Grumeti and should start crossing the Grumeti River in the coming week(s). The best place to be based at the moment is around Seronera. In the coming weeks the Grumeti River area and Grumeti Private Reserve are going to see some spectacular wildebeest-crocodile interaction. This is one of the highlights of the annual migration.
Our recommended camps in June:
Dunia Camp: A luxury tented camp perfectly located to see the migration in June.

Going to Serena on the 21st of June. Probably too late but I hope some herds are a bit slower...
What are the chances we will see any of the migration?
You will have a very good chance of seeing the migration. Worst case you may have to travel a short distance (most likely towards the Grumeti River). But, there should still be herds around Seronera and Serena. Have a good time
Hi Safarimapper, thank you for the quick reply.
I hope your are right!
;)
HI there,
Where would be the best place to go the fist few days in July?
Thanks
Marion
Early July: Western or northern Serengeti would be the most likely. I suggest 1 camp around Grumeti and 1 in the northern Serengeti - hedge your bets. But, if you have something booked - remember it is not all about the migration. Central, western and northern Serengeti have excellent gameviewing throughout July (with or without the main migrating herds)
Hi there! We are trying to decide between the Serengeti and Masaai Mara for July 26-Aug 4... Any guesses about where is the best spot to see the migration at this point? Thanks! Catherine
Hi there - Going to Serena Hotels, Masai Mara in the last week of July. Is there a chance of seeing the migration and if so which is the best spot to see the migration?
Hi there - Planning to be in Serena, Masai Mara by last week of July. Is there a chance of seeing the migration and if so which would be the best place? Many thanks.
For late July/early August, you would probably be safest in Masai Mara to see the migration. Far northern Serengeti is also good, but much more expensive as there are few camps compared to Masai Mara.
Hi, for Masai Mara mid-July of this year, should one expect very muddy roads, hence rather go on a jeep safari rather than a van?
Cheers, Mike
Safarimapper, these comments are very helpful, thanks so much. Around mid to late july, given the current migration location, what two camps would you choose to "hedge the bets"?
Mid to late July: I would probably recommend the Masai Mara. I am just loading an amazing special for a new camp in the Masai Mara, called Naboishi Camp. I should have it up tonight or tomorrow.
Going to grumeti river camp what's the chances of seeing the wildebeest there I'm there from 3rd of June til 14th June and can we follow them to other areas
